Proceedings

A question about this article I posted at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Forestry:

My source (Gilman, D. C.; Peck, H. T.; Colby, F. M., eds. (1905). New International Encyclopedia (1st ed.). New York: Dodd, Mead. {{cite encyclopedia}}: Missing or empty |title= (help)), a rather old one, mentions that "annual meetings are held, at which papers are read covering all aspects of the forestry question, and the Proceedings of the American Forestry Association are published annually at Washington, D. C." The article currently doesn't mention a proceedings publication like this, or a corresponding conference meeting. Does anyone know the current status of this activity or its history? I thought it might have been discontinued, so I didn't include this information in the article. I can't find any sign of it on http://www.americanforests.org Bob Burkhardt (talk) 20:52, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi Bob, Consulting WorldCat and the Library of Congress, it looks like those Proceedings commenced in 1890, and continued at least through 1897 (vol. 12, for the 15th meeting of the Association). At some point, the name of the annual meeting was changed to the American Forestry Congress; the proceedings then were renamed as the Proceedings of the American Forestry Congress. It looks like the final issue of the latter was published in 1963. Several of the earlier Proceedings are available via GoogleBooks... Hope this helps...
