Civic Test Revision

Peer review: This draft of your suggestion to add numbers or data as evidence for this article, is a good one. It is always a good idea to backup whatever you say with evidence, and I agree that this would be helpful to understand the motives of the 2020 change. It’s good that you only said that it would be helpful to understand the motives, instead of taking a side and supporting the revision or not. A suggestion would be to not only add the figures showing how the new test affected immigrants, but also maybe how the immigrants responded to this as well. This could give you evidence to describe the side of what is was like for immigrants then, and possibly tie into why this new test was revoked in 2021 by President Biden with an Executive Order. This article seems to have captured very little of the actual impact of the American Civics Test and I am glad that you are choosing to update this.

On to specific advice, I highlighted 4 grammar mistakes in the article itself that you can fix in your updates. Further than that, I think it is very exciting to see more statistics behind the claims made in the article. I would only suggest to limit the number of direct claims you are making and stick to the numbers. Adding Usage of the Citizenship Test in State High School Exit Exams

Its noted in one of the citations, as well as on the article itself, that the Citizenship Test has been used by Arizona and 20 other states (as of 2019 at least) as a requirement for their Civics Education in High Schools. Could it be considered appropriate to go more in depth and list the individual states which have adopted it, when they adopted it (including any that may have dropped the requirement) and any changes made?
