• "The British sloops featured a similar battery:" - is it appropriate to refer to this design as "a similar battery" when it had half the guns of the Alabama?
  • I removed this claim. My approach was to mention that the idea for centerline pivot guns were copied, but leaving the idea out makes the most sense.
• "Among these vessels were CSS Alabama, Florida, and Alexandra. These ships impeded Union shipping; Alabama alone was responsible for destroying 65 merchant vessels" - I think the phrasing ought to be tweaked - the second sentence can easily be read to refer to the three named ones rather than the commerce raiders as a class, but Alexandra was impounded its whole life and didn't take any prizes
  • Good point. How is These ships impeded Union trade; alone was responsible for destroying 65 merchant vessels.?
• " two 18 cm (7 in) and two 64 lb (29 kg) muzzle-loading rifles" - the link for the muzzle-loading rifles goes to a page about small arms; I reckon that you want Rifled muzzle loader for the link

• These are referred to Composite ships in the lead, but that doesn't square well with "and the ships were the last all-wooden sloops in the Navy" and the fact that the iron elements were supports only and not the integral framing of the ship
  • Hmm...I'll remove the claim. I think Conway has a slightly different definition for the ships.
• 8 meters is converted into 27 feet at one point in the article but to 25 feet in other places; this should be consistent
• There's a similar issue with meters being variably converted as 15 or 16 ft
  • I found the issue! Conway's only gave measurement in feet, and the convert template did not have any decimal places. How does it look now?
• "although Daphne was not refitted due to her age" - was this truly her age, or rather her condition, as she wasn't any older than the other three ships in question
  • That's what the source said, but it is best for me to remove it.

Apologies for the delay - I've been busier than I expected. For spotchecks:

• " For instance, Amazon was built entirely of teak, while Daphne was framed with English oak and planked with Italian oak." (from Conway's) - OK
• "The ships carried several boats: a 8.2 m (27 ft)-long pinnace located amidships between the foremast and funnel" - (from Conway's) - OK
• "In 1868, Daphne was the most successful British anti-slave ship in the region when the rest of the squadron was preoccupied with the British expedition to Abyssinia." - (from Broich) - part of this seems to be on p. 82 (where the citation is pp. 83-84). Also - where is the reference to Abyssinia in the source? I may be missing it.
• "The class was designed by Edward Reed, " - (from Conway's) - OK
• "However, only Nymphe was able to achieve the 13-knot goal under power, while the other five fell slightly short." - (from Conway's) - OK

Hi Hog Farm! No worries about the delay at all, I have been busy myself. I accidently cut the Broich citation a bit short, as it should also include page 82. This page (well, the chapter 5 header as there is no marked page 82) contains the line, "Daphne had done most of the work...though Heath sent other ships to help her as they became available after re-embarking he invasion force at Abyssinia". Does this help clear things up? GGOTCC 03:23, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
