How is James the same as Levi? (suggestion to remove the sentence)
[edit]‘It is therefore highly probable that the Alphaeus in "James son of Alphaeus" and "Levi son of Alphaeus" are the same person.’
This is a strong statement, but it has no citation, it is against mainstream understanding, and the rest of the article assumes that Levi is Matthew which is different from James. For these reasons,I think that this sentence should be removed. Haehtid (talk) 04:57, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
- It's not saying that Levi and James are the same, it is saying that Alphaeus is the father of both, but I've updated the language to be clearer Myfishes (talk) 07:37, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
