This article must be renamed to Almopia regional unit or Almopia (regional unit). The article with the name "Almopia" must contain the (ancient) region Αλμωπία (= Greek) Greek Macedon (talk) 15:05, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

The Karadjova region, part of the Sanjak of Salonica, possessed a demographic structure in the pre-Ottoman period consisting of indigenous Slavs, Greeks, Vlachs, and Slavicized Turkic elements. While Slavs constituted a distinct community in Karadjova, it is also established that Slavicized branches of various Turkic tribes, such as the Pechenegs, Oghuz (Uz), Proto-Bulgarians, and Cumans, inhabited the region. Slavicization is defined as the process through which a community adopts the Slavic language and culture over time, occasionally identifying itself with a Slavic identity. In this process, the ethnic origin remains unchanged, whereas linguistic and cultural identity undergoes a transition. During the Ottoman era, this demographic landscape was further enriched by the settlement of Turkish populations from Anatolia, specifically the Evlad-ı Fatihan, Yoruks, and Konyars.
