Educational background

A reader contacted Wikimedia to report that Alan Say is an alumnus of Chouinard Art Institute.

It can be verified in his autobiographical book The Inker's Shadow.

It's stated at

• "'The Inker's Shadow' Shines a Fresh Light on a Young Artist's Coming of Age", Pacific Citizen, August 31, 2015

that Say studied three years at Aoyama Gakuin, Tokyo; one year at Chouinard Art Institute; one year at Los Angeles Art Center School; two years at University of California, Berkeley; and one year at San Francisco Art Institute. Marriage

At some point, it appears that Allen Say divorced and remarried. This article from 2010 mentions a Japanese wife named Miki whereas an interview with his daughter around 2020 mentions growing up with a "Japanese father and English mother".
