Conflict-of-interest edit request, August 2026
[edit]| The user below has a request that an edit be made to Allan Gregorio. That user has an actual or apparent conflict of interest. The requested edits backlog is very high. Please be extremely patient. There are currently 650 requests waiting for review. Please read the instructions for the parameters used by this template for accepting and declining them, and review the request below and make the edit if it is well sourced, neutral, and follows other Wikipedia guidelines and policies. |
Declaring a conflict of interest: I have a conflict of interest with regard to the subject of this article and am not editing it directly. The article has not been substantially updated since 2018 and now contains one statement that is factually incorrect. Each proposed change below is supported by an independent published source, and I have kept the existing sourced material intact. Reviewers should feel free to apply some items and decline others.
1. Factual error — the platform described no longer exists
- Change:
Gregorio currently develops augmented reality filters for Instagram - To:
Gregorio develops augmented reality effects for TikTok. - Source: Smoot, Donnavan. "TikTok movie filter is giving film fans their 'hardest battles'". In The Know (Yahoo), 7 February 2023. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/tiktok-movie-filter-giving-film-215945142.html
- Reason: Meta discontinued the Spark AR platform on 14 January 2025, removing all third-party Instagram effects. The article currently describes activity on a platform that has not existed for more than eighteen months. This is the most urgent of the changes proposed here.
2. Lead sentence
- Change:
Allan Gregorio (born 7 September 1992) is a Brazilian visual artist and portrait photographer. - To:
Allan Gregorio (born 7 September 1992) is a Brazilian visual artist working in augmented reality and computer-generated imagery. He began his career as a portrait photographer. - Sources:
- "CGI Model Loverboy by Allan Gregorio". Kaltblut Magazine, 16 October 2020. https://www.kaltblut-magazine.com/cgi-model-loverboy-by-allan-gregorio/
- "'Metaverse Dream': new book asks where virtual worlds will take us". Wallpaper*, 26 April 2023. https://www.wallpaper.com/travel/metaverse-dream-book-assouline
- "Allan Gregório: fotógrafo criador do filtro 'Bozo'". Metrópoles, 8 May 2020. https://www.metropoles.com/entretenimento/allan-gregorio-fotografo-criador-do-filtro-bozo-bomba-entre-celebridades
- Reason: The proposed wording retains the portrait photography history, which the article's existing references support. The sources above document work in augmented reality and CGI from 2020 onward, which the current lead does not reflect. Note also that the associated Wikidata item (Q56630719) has described the subject as a digital artist in 29 languages since 2 July 2026, so the article and its structured data currently contradict each other.
3. Infobox — occupation
- Change:
|occupation = Photographer and visual artist - To:
|occupation = Visual artist, photographer - Reason: Consistency with the proposed lead. No new sourcing required.
4. Infobox — website
- Change:
|website = allangregorio.com - To:
|website = gregorio.io - Reason: allangregorio.com is a former domain retained as a redirect. gregorio.io is the current official site.
5. New paragraph — augmented reality work
Add to the end of the Career section:
Gregorio creates augmented reality effects for TikTok, including "battle bracket" effects in which users choose repeatedly between paired options. A film-themed bracket effect he created was used in more than 285,000 videos in early 2023.[1] An earlier effect that generated images of a user's supposed celebrity parents also circulated widely on the platform in 2022.[2][3]
- Reason: The article contains no account of the augmented reality work despite it being the subject's main activity for several years. The In The Know piece is independent reporting with a named byline, and the figure of 285,000 videos is the publication's own, not self-reported.
6. New paragraph — CGI and digital fashion
Add to the Career section, after the paragraph above:
From 2020 Gregorio also produced computer-generated imagery and digital fashion work. His CGI character "Loverboy" was published by Kaltblut in October 2020,[4] and his work featured in the 2023 Assouline book Metaverse Dream, reviewed by Wallpaper*.[5]
- Reason: The Career section currently ends in 2020. Kaltblut is already used as a reference twice in the article, so its reliability is established by existing consensus.
7. Remove entries whose sources no longer resolve
Five citations in "Selected publications" no longer load, checked 1 August 2026:
- Zupi Magazine, "Série de fotografia capta expressão artística da índia Shaman" (2013) — returns HTTP 404
- Photo Magazine Brazil, "Mural: Allan Gragorio" (2013) — does not respond
- Everfest, "People of Glastonbury's Outrageous LGBT Club NYC Downlow" (2017) — domain no longer resolves
- NAKID Magazine, "A moment with Lucy Fizz" (2017) — expired TLS certificate, browsers refuse the connection
- NAKID Magazine, "Taina Haines" (2017) — same
- Request: remove these entries, or tag them, at the reviewer's discretion. No archived copies were found. The remaining entries in that section were checked and still load.

- Hi,
- I noticed your request was erroneously filed with the {{Edit request}} template, which is for a different purpose. I have taken the liberty of changing it to the correct {{Edit COI}} template for you, so that the right people have a better chance of finding it. ~ crtbob (talk • contribs • talk) 20:08, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
