Change "following extensive Israeli bombardment during the Gaza war and genocide." to "following extensive Israeli bombardment during the Gaza war." as the genocide is an unfounded claim and is also not relevant to the article. ~2026-48527-3 (talk) 20:08, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
Not done. See Gaza genocide. The Gaza strip was destroyed during the war and genocide, and Shaath (the subject of the article) is chairing a committee to rebuild it. It is relevant to describe the purpose of the committee he is chairing. WillowCity(talk) 20:40, 22 January 2026 (UTC)

In the first paragraph, change "Gaza war and genocide" to "Gaza war". This is a very recent historical event, and there is substantial debate on the nature of the violence that occurred. Given that the accused Israeli government is backing the Gaza Peace Plan together with Jordan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Quatar, a strong argument could be made that the intent of military actions was not the annihilation of the Palestinian population. There are of course counter-arguments as well, but this should be enough to show that an objective source should not ignore the possibility that this was not a genocide. - Thank you, I have seen the previous replies and the "Gaza genocide" article. I condemn all attempts from Israeli parties that try to dehumanise Palestinians, and I know the arguments on that side. In the mean time it does not seem objective to ignore the widespread antisemitism of those groups accusing Israel as a state and the Israeli government as a whole of genocidal intent. And it is not objective to ignore the fact that Israel has on many, many occasions expressed its intent to halt the war if certain criteria are met. At this moment Israel is fully supporting the Gaza Peace Plan, which would not be possible with a genocidal intent. I am not in the position to fully dismiss the possibility that this was/is a genocide, but it is clear to me that this accusation - the worst possible - is not well founded at this point. If my edit request is ignored, I accept that the Wikipedia community reflects the antisemitic bias of the global majority. Horváth Andor Márton (talk) 07:25, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

To: As Chair of the PNCAG, he is expected to oversee the provision of humanitarian aid and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip following extensive Israeli bombardment during the Gaza war, amid genocide claims brought by South Africa before the International Court of Justice. Not done: See the responses to the multiple previous edit requests concerning this. Changing the current "Gaza war and genocide" wording is something that would require a consensus and cannot be accomplished with an edit request. Day Creature (talk) 08:30, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

Description of suggested change: I would also like to strongly urge that this sentence be changed. The responses so far have not provided a satisfactory reason for leaving the accusation of genocide here as an objective fact. Legally, the matter has not been clarified; politically, the term is mainly used as a battle cry by anti-Zionists to delegitimize Israel. Wikipedia should be a neutral source here that does not contribute to misinformation.
There are weighty objections to the accusation of genocide, some of which have already been mentioned here. I would like to add that the high number of deaths is due to acts of war in which Hamas uses civilians in Gaza as human shields, thereby contributing significantly to the number of deaths. There are no independent estimates of the death toll, and even the figures released by Hamas do not specify the ratio of combatants to civilians. On this basis, it is not possible to make any reliable statements, let alone pass judgment that Israel is committing genocide here.

Change "following extensive Israeli bombardment during the Gaza war and genocide." to "following extensive Israeli bombardment during the Gaza war." as there is no mention of a genocide in any source provided, which violates NPOV and can be classified as original research.
