Thanks for streamlining the history User:Renick, it was getting out if hand and probably through auto-biographical edits. I think it could be further reduced into a sentence or two about the speed/scale or otherwise of its geographical spread. Maybe we could also put something about prehistory here, about use of algorithms in dance music linking to Autechre et al. Yaxu (talk) 08:37, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

Bytebeat

maybe some cross-references between Algorave and Bytebeat should be added here? sounds like there are similarities.

Bytebeat is a technique for creating experimental music where a mathematical expression - usually in the form of a short C or JavaScript program - is repeatedly evaluated against an increasing timestamp variable, returning a byte value to be used as PCM sample output. Suggestion: list of software and/or languages

I'm not sure, but I think it could be a good idea to have a section within this article called something like "List of algorave applications" with a table of different programs and programming languages for live music coding. Alternatively, this could be an article by itself. Or is this unnecessary? I'm interested in opinions and suggestions before creating the section. Ice5678 (talk) 21:20, 9 February 2026 (UTC)

Let's improve this page

landing in here, the algorave and live coding pages on English Wikipedia are really really bad in general. they don't really follow the right writing style or structure at all. think they need complete rewrites. the live coding page doesn't even properly exist. i think we could improve the algorave page and then use momentum to repurpose the live coding page. the new community section is nice but really doesn't fit what's allowed on Wikipedia: there shouldn't be any external links within text and there should be references. there's a lot of information we can add for sure though. I will try to work on it over the next few weeks :) Todepond (talk) 19:01, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
