Alfred Barron Clay
[edit]The archive at the Royal Academy shows that he was never a student there. He was probably a student under George Richmond. I do have a painting by A. B. Clay, which is clearly marked as a copy of an original portrait by Richmond. The RA catalogues of their summer exhibition do show him as a regular exhibitor from 1854 to 1868. His middle name is always shown spelled with an "a". David Gollin 2A00:23CC:DC0D:A201:6C74:6A05:C54B:8E1 (talk) 17:26, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
