Any different suggestions?

1987 Worldcon

[edit]

The article says that Doris Lessing stepped in to replace Bester at the 1987 Worldcon (Conspiracy in Brighton, UK). In fact Lessing had already been announced as the UK guest of honour before Bester dropped out. There were a large number of official guests for that convention, also including the Strugatsky brothers from the USSR.

Pronunciation of McQuown

[edit]

I knew Judith McQuown, and she told me her husband's name was pronounced like McKuen. Many web pages cite the single source that here claims it was like McQueen; I have no idea where that person got that idea, but I know it to be incorrect. There seems to be no approved way to make this correction, since I can cite only personal knowledge. ~2026-41974-41 (talk) 16:01, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
