Unchained

[edit]

Alex North wrote the melody to one of the most popular songs of the Twentieth Century, Unchained Melody. According to the song's publishing administrator, over 1,500 recordings of "Unchained Melody" have been made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages. In addition three versions were on the American pop charts, at the same time that three versions were on the U.K. charts. This is an unequaled record. I strongly feel that this song should be mentioned in the introduction, while I acknowledge that North wrote a large amount of other noteworthy music. Can someone please add names for these two recordings related to the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey: "the score itself remained unheard until composer Jerry Goldsmith rerecorded it for Varèse Sarabande in 1993. In 2007, Intrada Records released the 1968 recording sessions on CD from North's personal archives." Thank you! Misty MH (talk) 02:04, 3 March 2023 (UTC) Misty MH (talk) 02:06, 3 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
