Improvements needed

The draft article is better than the deleted version of the article, but many improvements are still needed. There are multiple sections without citations, several citation needed tags in the body, and one section written like an advertisement. The draft also needs to be edited to adhere to MOS:CITELEAD, such that some information only appears in the lead and not in the body. Flibirigit (talk) 17:35, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Pinging @Kyhiking so they see this. I actually suggest removing the Discography and Filmography sections unless there are reviews from reputable critics. Otherwise they do not help establishing notability and I agree with @Flibirigit they come across as promotional which hurts the article. It is difficult to include his impact on the shape of Scottish Festivals in the US and not come across as an advertisement...except that he doesn't currently perform. Entirely lost is the truth that during the day, American Scottish festivals did not have any music other than pipe bands until Alex Beaton provided proof that there was an audience for folk tunes. The governing bodies of the oldest games in the continental US needed Beaton to convince them that there was an appetite for his brand of history and songs with actual lyrics. He paved the way for our current celtic rock bands and today's Scottish folk singers. His first wife even designed the logos for some of the originals...including Bad Haggis. this is so true. The current board of the largest games in the US will tell you how Alex shaped the concept of Scottish games in America today. Before Alex, you needed to be able to fund a piping competition. He proved that people enjoyed the music with lyrics and would show up. It's not only the idea that Celtic rock bands exist that we owe to Alex, but also the small games all over the southeast that use folk music with a Scottish twist to entice attendees. He's dead and gone, it is not a promo.
