Nationalism

[edit]

I'm surprised this page does not mention anything about indian nationalism which is exactly what this is. Akmal94 (talk) 03:28, 16 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

is this BJP supported?

Other territories besides Pakistan and Bangladesh

During British Raj times, Nepal was administered separately but not Burma.

Does Irredentism include Ceylon, Maldives and Chagos Archipelago even?  Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.161.123.221 (talk) 13:58, 12 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Map doesn't include Sikkim

[edit]

The provided map doesn't include the Indian state of Sikkim, which would in fact be part of Greater India as it is part of present India.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Velteau (talkcontribs) 02:12, 9 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Removal of poorly sourced and unsourced information

[edit]

I have removed multiple pieces of information that make no mention of "Akhand Bharat" from this article. Some of the pieces of information listed in this article include sources that make no mention of "Akhand Bharat" in the source. Some pieces of information in this article have been poorly written and have included information that is not published in the source. I have removed all of that so please don't revert my edits. I have explained all of this in my edit summaries. (101.182.138.159 (talk) 11:06, 30 October 2019 (UTC))Reply

Please seek consensus before making major changes. You’ve removed the templates from the page even. These changes require community consensus. Elaborate specific issue which you’ve with article. — Harshil want to talk? 12:15, 30 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Why did you remove the information related to passport of Indian Union?
  • Why did you remove about template?
  • Why did you remove explanation of greater India and related map from the Article?
  • Why did you replace book with another one and replaced name if countires.
As per WP:BRD, you need to discuss all these issues first before adding any content when someone objected it. — Harshil want to talk? 12:28, 30 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Harshil169:
What is the "passport of Indian Union" you are speaking about?
Why have you included information about Greater India when the sources mention nothing about Akhand Bharat?
Why have you placed information into the article that is poorly sourced? This source speaks about a map from 1993 yet you have incorrectly used the source and claimed the source says, "The Indianization and Sanskritization of regions such as Tibet, Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia—through the introduction of Hinduism and Buddhism via the Silk Road and Indian Ocean trade routes, Indic scripts and adherence to caste systems—also informs some irredentist aspects of the akhand bharat concept. For example, the etymology of 'Cambodia', a Southeast Asian nation sometimes included in akhand bharat irredentism." The source does not say that. So why have you done this?
This source makes no mention of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Tibet, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Myanmar being part of the map yet you have incorrectly attributed the source to a claim that reads, "Following the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status, some posters in Islamabad displayed a map of an "akhand bharat" encompassing India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Tibet, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Myanmar, accompanied by the caption "Akhand Bharat". Why?
As a result, I have either removed all of these pieces of information or have fixed them according to what the source says. I have removed maps (such as the Greater India map) that bear no correlation to Akhand Bharat. So tell me why you have you incorrectly cited sources for pieces of information that don't correspond to what the source says? I have only removed those pieces of information so I'm not sure why you have a problem with me removing pieces of information that do not correspond to what the source actually says. If you still don't agree with the removal of these pieces of information, I'll be happy to seek mediation from Wikipedia:Dispute resolution.(2001:8003:4E7A:200:60E0:B029:4527:CE62 (talk) 01:36, 31 October 2019 (UTC))Reply
Don’t ask counter questions if you want to reach on consensus. My all questions are based on your differences, it’ll be advisable to revisit your versions before answering. Answer some questions first because what I can see is your problem with Greater India and whole concept of it. I haven’t added any details on this page till date, you can check it. But your removal of content seems unnecessary to me. — Harshil want to talk? 02:26, 31 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Harshil169: I answered your questions by asking you questions. I have removed all of the information in my edits that contradicted what the sources said. I concur, some of the maps should not have been removed but the three last points in my previous reply to you need to be addressed. It is against the rules of Wikipedia to incorrectly attribute sources to pieces of information that don't support what the source says. I don't care if you have added any information or not, the problem is that you're allowing pieces of information with no sources to be included on this page. If you're not going to cooperate then I'm going to go to Dispute Resolution. It looks to me that you have looked at none of my edits to understand why I have removed the pieces of information that I did. These are the edits that need to be made to abide by Wikipedia guidelines. I have removed all the information that does not support what the sources say. (2001:8003:4E7A:200:60E0:B029:4527:CE62 (talk) 06:02, 31 October 2019 (UTC))Reply
I find it odd of you to claim that I'm only editing this page because I have a problem with this concept yet for some reason you appear to be complicit in allowing the edits of users that have hijacked this page and published content that is not support by any sources. (2001:8003:4E7A:200:60E0:B029:4527:CE62 (talk) 06:05, 31 October 2019 (UTC))Reply

I crosschecked and verified your test edits, they are good. My only concern was removal of maps and templates. You can add these contents. But you should improve tone of building consensus. I'm undoing your last edit so that your changes can appear on the page. Thanks, -- Harshil want to talk? 07:29, 31 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Harshil169: Thanks for that and I apologise for being so brash throughout this whole discussion. I shall follow through with your advice. (2001:8003:4E7A:200:60E0:B029:4527:CE62 (talk) 09:55, 31 October 2019 (UTC))Reply

Neutrality

[edit]

Neutrality of this article is disputed because there are some editors constantly trying to ulter the article and write their own WP:POV but every time there edits got reverted by other editors with some other WP:POV.Also in past there have been debates about what should be and what should not be written in this article, and also there are many claims in this article which is are not sourced properly or poorly sourced and not matching the standards of Wikipedia:Independent sources and Wikipedia:Reliable Sources. Uttarpradeshi (talk) 12:05, 12 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Kautilya3 please establish a consensus here first before removing that tag, and also about my argument, that i have given above please read and if you want me to be specific with usernames and stuff then feel free to ask me, i will provide them to you. PEACE. Uttarpradeshi (talk) 17:32, 13 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Uttarpradeshi: see this which says "Drive-by tagging is strongly discouraged. The editor who adds the tag should discuss concerns on the talk page, pointing to specific issues that are actionable within the content policies. In the absence of such a discussion, or where it remains unclear what the NPOV violation is, the tag may be removed by any editor." I haven't a clue what specific things you want done. You haven't named any source, the fact of debates in the past is irrelevant, nor do changes in the article without knowing which ones you think fails NPOV. And you don't seem to understand WP:NPOV because it doesn't call for neutrality as I think you mean it. Doug Weller talk 09:15, 14 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Dear @আকাশ নাথ সরকার:, may you please explain why you are reverting my addition of material sourced from CNN? I see at the first reverting, you describe it as "unsourced opinion", but I do not think a CNN news article qualifies as this per Wikipedia:Reliable_sources. Thanks. Could cross-links be added to Kashmir and Jammu? I am viewing this page because I've never heard of this term and I'm not familiar with the political context. Short of searching Wikipedia for the names, I'm not sure where to go to get more information about them, especially in the context of this article. I'd add them myself except for the page protection Kalany (talk) 23:25, 8 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • What I think should be changed:
Hindutva political groups such as [[Shiv Sena]], have sought the reclamation of Pakistan-administered Kashmir under the pretence of ''Akhand Bharat,'' especially after the abrogation of [[Article 370 of the Constitution of India|Article 370 and 35A of the Indian constitution]] (removing the semi-autonomy of Jammu and Kashmir)

  • I am unfamiliar with the situation and would like to be able to learn more about the situation with Kashmir without having to search wikipedia.
