More details on how the air quality index is Calculated Needed?--Sfitzsi (talk) 15:44, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit]

It might be useful to add more details concerning the air quality index for ozone. In the US, for 8 hour average ozone, with concentration in units of ppbv, the breakpoints table is:

Category
059050Good
607551100Moderate
7695101150Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
96115151200Unhealthy
116374201300Very Unhealthy
I believe this information was provided earlier, as well as Canadian levels, but has been taken out. It is extremely salient, because US levels were changed in 2008 under Bush, and are under further scientific consideration now.
The values shown above for the US seem to be as proposed by the EPA, not as currently effective.

Need details on the health effects due to AQI levels.

[edit]

Currently just country wise advisory and very short one line effects are given. Take one particular scale for AQI and based on it's ranges mention detailed breakdown(in paragraph form not tabular) for respiratory complications that may arise in various groups(based on age, genetics, allergic, secondary disease factors), average reduction lifespan after living decades in heavily contaminated areas(like Delhi) where AQI is constantly around ~500 and other relevant health effects as proven by research. 115.240.194.54 (talk) 08:55, 2 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

WHO AQI guidelines

[edit]

It would be great to add the WHO guidelines to this page. Taxonic (talk) 00:44, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

AQI comparisons

[edit]

It would be useful to provide some aid to AQI comparisons. Perhaps a summary chart of the different standards described in detail on this page? Taxonic (talk) 00:45, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
