Vacuum Pump

[edit]

This article should be merged with the article Vacuum pump except mybe for the treatment of the historic argument between Boyle and Hobbes about the experimental method Leviathan and the Air-Pump.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Florianfisch (talkcontribs) 09:08, 4 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Needles

[edit]

What about needles? How do we pump with needles?--Rabidretardedolphinz (talk) 10:40, 27 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

this page really needs work

[edit]

needs more examples and their qualities. im no writer so i will suggest instead.

air pumps differ from other fluid pumps because of the very thin viscosity of the air which can escape with ease limiting pressure, to combat this a plunger is used which increases friction. alternatively a bag or bellows can be used with a valve to obtain pressure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Charlieb000 (talkcontribs) 00:49, 23 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Pump Types

[edit]

I was thinking about adding a section that described different types of air pumps. The first two types of air pumps that I would add/describe within this section are: reciprocating pumps, and diaphragm pumps. These two different air pump types are extremely easy to understand, and are very basic in terms of how they work.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Armadyllon (talkcontribs) 05:09, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Minor edits and additions

[edit]

I added to the introductory section of the article, and added more information to the "History" section of the article. In the History section, I added a section about scientist Francis Hauksbee and his contributions to the history of air pumps.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.246.174.18 (talk) 02:13, 27 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
