Agrokomerc Affair

This article plays down the significance of the Agrokomerc Affair, stating only as follows: "Shortly after, Agrokomerc became the main subject in all aspects of local life. With positive influence on employees and the public, as well as with its own investments, Agrokomerc made this region in one of most advanced regions in Yugoslavia. With its own resources Agrokomerc built roads in the farthest parts of the region, provided water supplies to almost every house in the region, invested in the school system to get high educated employees". In fact, the OOUR Agrokomerc had a captive bank within its circle; the bank discounted the OOUR's promissory notes on request, but that was seldom done and the notes circulated much as fiat money does. By issuing promissory notes, Agrokomerc secured itself unlimited credit; it acted, in fact, like a sovereign country issuing its own money in unlimited quantities. No wonder the region flourished! However, this is not a safe strategy as the chicken will eventually come home to roost. When they did, Agrokomerc and Velika Kladuša collapsed and a period of stagnation ensued. "a de facto independent entity"? Really?

Only if "a de facto independent entity" is some novel way of saying a puppet in the hands of... well, everyone with hands.
The moment that Croatia changed its policy towards Bosnia, "Autonomous Province of Western Bosnia" lost its footing, falling to the forces of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina only months later.
THEN, it gets overtaken by the forces of Republika Srpska AND the forces of Republic of Serb Krajina.
After which it is reinstated as "Autonomous Province of Western Bosnia".
