Spelling

[edit]

Both spellings of the species name, "sylvaticus" and "silvaticus", are found in the literature.[1] The Latin word for "wood" may be spelt either "silva" or "sylva" (cf. Pennsylvania). The current spelling given in Index Fungorum/Species Fungorum is with a "y", and I think that that implies that in Wikipedia we should regard the "sylvaticus" as the preferred orthography since WP should follow Index Fungorum.[2] Strobilomyces (talk) 14:54, 1 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
