Relationship with cows

When I was a young boy in the late 1950s, my grandfather would take me for walks through cow pastures in the early autumn/fall. He would encourage me to go up to a cow lying on the ground and slap it on the rump, whereupon it would grumpily stand up and walk away. There would often be field mushrooms to be found where the cow had been lying. Does anybody have anecdotal memories about this stuff? "closely related to the cultivated A. bisporus (button mushroom)"

This line from the lead seems odd to me since they are not in the same subgenus at all -- within *Agaricus*, they are not especially closely related, and there are many *Agaricus* species more closely related to each. It being at the top of the article makes it seem like they're especially closely related in the genus but they're not. Jokullmusic 22:09, 2 November 2025 (UTC)

I'm assuming that A. bisporus was picked as "its closest relative" because A. bisporus is the most famous member of the genus. I would either swap out A. bisporus with another species in the same subgenus and section as A. campestris, or leave it out entirely. Mr Fink (talk) 23:10, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
