Editing the former fleet section

[edit]

Hello all, I was browsing Wikipedia and was scrolling through the Aer Lingus article. In the former fleet section it lists aircraft the airline previously utilized. It is however missing N272WA, an MD-11 they leased from World Airways twice. When attempting to edit the box the information was in I was brought to a pop-up with small boxes which are almost impossible to see in and with text that appears to be in some sort of coding language. Could anyone help me learn how to edit such features in an article or be able to edit it themselves if I provide the information? PNW Aviation (talk) 23:45, 1 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Firstly do you have a reliable source for the information? The list itself is plain text so I don't follow what your problem is with editing it. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 15:44, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I have multiple fleet records and aircraft documentation showing the aircraft was leased to Aer Lingus as well as multiple photos of it in the livery PNW Aviation (talk) 17:27, 7 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don’t know how to post a video or picture of the issue but I can assure you it is not in plain text PNW Aviation (talk) 17:34, 7 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
What is not plain text? It is simply a column of links. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 14:45, 12 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
It says “edit template” and this is the text I get:
but in like brackets and numbers and stuff PNW Aviation (talk) 16:36, 12 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes but editing it puts it into brackets and parentheses and such, look for yourself PNW Aviation (talk) 19:56, 12 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Where does it say "edit template"? There is a sub-heading ===Historic fleet===, then there is a template (in curly brackets) that is supposed to divide the list into equal columns. Then a plain-text list of aircraft types separated by bullet points (shift 8). The bits in brackets after the aircraft types are the supporting references. If you don't understand what these are read WP:Referencing for beginners Murgatroyd49 (talk) 16:15, 13 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I know what that is but the way it is formatted is insane on my side. I will check again on a different computer. PNW Aviation (talk) 14:51, 14 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
