[edit]

Activation has other meanings, including side effects of medications and drugs.

Activation is a general term that refers to the type of side-effect that can happen when too much of an excitatory neurotransmitter, such as serotonin, is acting on receptors. The effect of this increase in neurotransmitter activity is mostly physical in nature (i.e., motor restlessness). However, people feel it differently, depending on how they interpret it. If someone is very fatigued to begin with, he or she may feel energized; if someone is already anxious, he or she may feel jittery, restless, more anxious, agitated, or may have tremors and/or trembling. Nuclear physics

[edit]

Activation is the generic name for nuclear reactions that convert stable nuclea into radioactive ones. Neutron activation is specially relevant for nuclear applications. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.57.237.218 (talk) 05:26, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
