Athens tourist advertising
[edit]While dozens of cities had acropolis and Athens wasn't the first, it is mentioned and linked four times in the opening sentences, plus one extra time in the image caption. A single mention of the Athens acropolis would suffice in the introduction, since it already has its own page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.117.232.35 (talk) 02:28, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
- To me this seems more like advertising for the Patara Acropolis.
- Athens happens to have the most famous Acropolis so I think that we should just let Athens be.. Onoufrios d (talk) 07:48, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
- I agree; I've heard many refer to the Acropolis in Athens as simply "the Acropolis." The term is, in my opinion, functionally synonymous with the Athens landmark. Optimisms (talk) 08:55, 20 November 2025 (UTC)

Asia Minor citadels that qualify as acropoleis
[edit]The article currently lists "Rome, Carthage, Jerusalem, Celtic Bratislava, Asia Minor, [and] Castle Rock in Edinburgh" as examples of citadels from other cultures that could be described as acropoleis. The "Asia Minor" link points to the entire Anatolian peninsula, which is not a specific citadel. I am unsure what specific location was meant here. Could an editor clarify or adjust the link? I added a "clarification needed" template. Optimisms (talk) 08:58, 20 November 2025 (UTC)
