Apple

I did look at the pome page, and it apparently says pomes are accessory fruits. You can also look at this fruit terminology page. Cedarboy (talk) 14:53, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

There is no one correct answer for that (I work on pomes). It is not entirely unreasonable to consider it an accessory fruit, but the fleshy part comes from a half-inferior ovary, so it isn't dramatically non-ovary tissue. I'd like to see the statement that pomes are accessory fruit de-emphasized through wikipedia, and will consider doing that myself in a few months if there are no objections.
