Intended edits for this article

[edit]

Howdy all, I am a student at Texas A&M University and will be working on this page as part of the curriculum for my Technical and Professional Editing course. I have identified a few edits that can be made but want to post them here before making any substantial edits. I will also be using a sandbox to make all major edits before changing the source.

  • Improving the tone- As Wikipedia has noted, the tone is more that of a personal essay rather than an encyclopedic entry. I am proposing altering the tone to remove evidence of personal bias.
  • Citations- I have noticed that this article heavily relies on just a few citations, I am proposing inserting new citations to make this article more well rounded and reliable.

I am writing these notes as I have seen editors work on this article in the past. Please respond if you have any feedback before I begin edits on this article. Thank you! ProfessionalEditing26 (talk) 19:51, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

This article needs sources!

[edit]

As well as adding the "no footnotes" template, I have removed from the lead section the claim that

"This indicates that it [Absolute War] was an experiment that failed and was meant to be dropped."

For, as it stands as unsourced, reads entirely like the personal opinion of the editor, rather than an academic opinion (let alone academic consensus). If a citation is added that corroborates this claim it should very much be re-added, even if only (as should be made clear) as the contention of one/a few academics.
