I've modified the introduction to say that he was a Polish-born Belgian Jewish Trotskyist since as far as I can tell he only ever had Polish citizenship and became stateless after the Nazi invasion of Poland. Chilltherevolutionist (talk) 08:36, 12 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Why 'living person'

[edit]

The article has some bureaucratic assertion that this article is about a living person when he died in 1944. Did whoever added that even read it??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrwhoohoo (talkcontribs) 15:24, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have removed this tasteless addition. --Mia-etol (talk) 06:12, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Date/location of death

[edit]

Currently the source we have for him dying in the gas chamber in September is a political tribute from a friend (Ernest Mandel) that just asserts his date and manner of death. Is there any more reliable source that backs this up? I tried looking up his information in the (admittedly incomplete) Arolsen archives and a person who matches his information is instead recorded as having died in Jan. 1945 during the death march to Bavaria. There is the small possibility that this is the wrong person (owing to the incompleteness of this set of records) and we obviously can't use this in itself as a source to contradict the current source, but surely with the archival material that is available to us now (and was not available to Mandel) we can come up with something more solid to base this claim on.
