Undescribed species
[edit]@Spawn of Hecate I think the information on the undescribed species of Abdopus should be included in the genus page instead, since there currently seems to be multiple undescribed species. - Hi, I'm currently trying to make an article to distinguish the currently undescribed Australian "land octopus" from Abdopus aculeatus (which it is frequently confused with) in an attempt to prevent further misinformation.
- I'm still new to contributing to Wikipedia but I could include the "land octopus" moniker in the pagename or- as you suggested- I could transfer the information from my draft into the genus page (although I would need advice on how much information is appropriate to add and where to add it).
- I would also like to add that I am currently working with another user to determine how to go about publishing said draft.

- The best example i could give would be the White V octopus page which i made; i made sure that the page uses the moniker that's most often used by experts to describe the species instead of making one up (which would be OR). Oftentimes these undescribed species have a couple informal names attached, so my suggestion is to make sure that you've collected all (or enough) sources that talk about the species and discard those that discuss another (basically, limit the scope).
- The category on undescribed animal species should help you get an idea of how your page should look like, if you found enough sources. Good luck! Anthropophoca (talk) 05:43, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
