A note on notability
[edit](Partially copied and pasted from User talk:XDanielx, who had helped save a very similar article: Polygon (blockchain)) Although my primary interests are in mathematics, blockchain / Web3 is one of my side interests, and I think that Aave is clearly notable enough. On the other hand, minor altcoins that aren't among the top 100 cryptocurrencies in terms of market capitalization most likely shouldn't be on Wikipedia. Also, the previous deletion did not technically result in a hard delete vote, but rather resulted in a request to draftify.
I do not own this cryptocurrency and have my doubts about it, and do not actually want to promote it, but am nevertheless interested to learn about what it is.
That being said, the current article is a mess and needs to be completely redone per WP:TNT. I'm using the German version at de:Aave to start from scratch.
The following should clearly pass WP:GNG - here is a selection of several cryptocurrencies that are in the top 50-100 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, with existing articles in other Wikipedia language editions (particularly German), that should be notable enough for the English Wikipedia. For whatever reason, they are not in English yet. Some are previously deleted articles that may have not been properly sourced, but they should be OK if properly written and cited.
I'd like to get started with these, maybe by translating directly from the German Wikipedia while adding some additional citations to beef them up:
- NEM (cryptocurrency) (deleted several times), de:NEM (Kryptowährung)
- Aave (deleted several times), de:Aave
- VeChain (salted in 2021), de:VeChain
Aave is what I'm starting with first. VeChain or NEM might be next.
Some others that I want to work on later:
- Iota (protocol), de:Iota (Kommunikationsprotokoll)
- Waves (cryptocurrency), de:Waves (Kryptowährung)
- Particl (cryptocurrency), de:Particl (Kryptowährung)
- Theta (cryptocurrency), de:Theta (Kryptowährung)
- (and maybe some more in this list)
I'm really familiar with creating mathematics articles, but crypto seems to invoke the wrath of deletionists. VeChain would be a bit of a pain to recreate since it's salted. If anyone is interested in helping out, let me know! LagrangianFox (talk) 17:52, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
