Blood Upon the Snow (Modern Song Reference)

[edit]

Let's add an entry under Modern usage for the 2022 song "Blood Upon the Snow" by Hozier and Bear McCreary for God of War Ragnarök, which is a game. Yes, that's right! This is the second song on that list from Hozier.

The song features the lyric "The parent forced to eat its young before it grows," using Swift’s idea from parents perspective- a parent Forced to eat their child.

Hozier released eat your young 3 months later and I love his storytelling.

While "Eat Your Young" is a direct satirical framework for modern greed, "Blood Upon the Snow" serves as a distinct, literal interpretation of the same metaphor from the same tragedy but different perspective.

It's almost like, in Eat your young, he's acting like a government Enticing it's people and trying to sell the idea of eating your offspring. In blood upon the snow, he's taking the parents view. JBBenjamin (talk) 17:27, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

That's not a clear reference to Swift – in the Proposal, children aren't eaten by their own parents. Even if it were a reference, your thinking so would not be enough, since we don't do original research here. Gawaon (talk) 02:59, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
