Is MNG really a competitor?

[edit]

I believe the third paragraph would more accurately describe APNG as a successor or replacement for MNG, not a competitor to it.

My reasons are:

  • Despite being called "Multi-image Network Graphics", no current browsers support MNG
  • The only browsers MNG was supported in were Netscape & Firefox
  • Mozilla, the makers of Firefox, created APNG as a replacement for MNG

Yes, I think this should be better reflected in the article. Benimation (talk) 14:41, 28 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hack

[edit]

The simplicity of the format, plus the Specification Revisions, gives a feeling it's just a quick hack of PNG.
Should we mention this ?  Preceding unsigned comment added by Musaran (talkcontribs) 19:22, 23 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

List of computer programs and their support of APNG, along with their version numbers and release date

[edit]

The table does not yet list ImageMagick. Can someone add whether ImageMagick supports this or not please? 2A02:8388:1602:6D80:C080:419D:679D:C9F8 (talk) 17:12, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

List of supporting programs

[edit]

Several say both "Yes" and "Planned". This is obviously lying. If "Planned" is true, then "Support" needs to be "No". TooManyFingers (talk) 22:37, 30 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
