I attempted to add a link to anti-fascist as 161 can mean AFA, anti-fascist action. This change was rejected as this page is soley about the year. I am therfore removing the link to the New Jersey bus and adding a link to that respective page on 161_(number)--LevitatePalantir (talk) 20:33, 16 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 9 August 2026

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved. Clear consensus that the date is not the primary topic. Editors may wish to hold a broader discussion on updating NCDATES, whether to 200 or a greater number. (closed by non-admin page mover) BilledMammal (talk) 02:20, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

– No WP:PRIMARYTOPIC between years and numbers. ~2026-43625-63 (talk) 04:48, 9 August 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. TarnishedPathtalk 13:44, 17 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose per WP:NCDATES, which establishes that "Pages with numeric titles 151 and above usually represent an article about a calendar year in the Common Era", and that consensus for the "AD <year number>" formatting is only applied to years from 1 to 150. While this may obviously change and evolve, the nom gives to substantial reasoning other than a generic "no PRIMARYTOPIC". How and why? Such a simple reasoning could be applied to any number indefinitely, even up to "AD 2026" if we want to Impru20talk 12:47, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
The years starting from 201 should be primary topic. ~2026-43858-78 (talk) 22:05, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
We could just notify Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (numbers and dates) about this discussion, too. --Joy (talk) 07:42, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose procedurally, but support considering an update to WP:NCDATES in a more appropriate forum. Until 2016, we pretended that the page now at AD 1 was the primary topic for "1", but since then the emperor's new clothes have gradually faded away. In this range, number articles consistently get 3–6 times more views than the years, and it's hard to argue that they are less encyclopedic or enduring. Perhaps it's time to relent and give our readers what they seek rather than the history lesson we feel is good for them. Certes (talk) 13:21, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • Support normally the numbers get more views and may well have more long-term significance than the years. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:30, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
