Proposed merger of 95th Bomb Group Article

There is a separate article on the 95th Bomb Group (not the 95th Bombardment Group, which redirects to this article). It is a stub with little information on the group during World War II, but does have a couple of items that are not in this article. 95th Bomb Group

Is/was it also called the "95th Bomb Group"? If so, why is this not mentioned in the article? 76.189.141.37 (talk) 02:10, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

Reason for base exchange in 1943 is not fully explained

I am much puzzled by the following paragraph;

Eighth Air Force's early experience with its Martin B-26 Marauders convinced it that the Marauders were stationed too far from the continent of Europe to reach a selection of targets. It determined to move them closer to the target areas, and an exchange of bases began. The entire 95th group moved to RAF Horham in June, where they replaced the 323d Bombardment Group, which departed the previous day. A few days later their place at Framlingham was taken by the newly arrived 390th Bombardment Group.

Questions arising;

• the 95th was flying B-17s, so in real terms they didn't have any skin in this game
• the distance between RAF Framlingham and RAF Horham is barely 10 miles (yeah!), which is insignificant in aviation terms
• where did the 323rd BG go, and why? (it would help to know the aircraft type they flew)
• where did the 390th come from, and why? (it would help to know the aircraft type they flew)

Either this needs more text to fully explain the change-over, or it should be removed. As it stands it just adds confusion.

I anticipate that further reading will identify that one of these units flies the B-26 Marauder, and that they moved substantially closer to the English coast, thus reducing the flying distance to the continent of Europe. Meanwhile the re-positioning of various B-17 units further inland would have little impact on their mission capability.

If this is somehow already clear to other readers, that's fine. On the other hand whilst the 95th BG move itself deserves mention, the other units and underlying reason for the move is not really any part of the 95th BG story.
