Adj. form Florian per Cassell's dict., (flor'-ee-un), from Flōrius. kwami 05:25, 2005 Jun 22 (UTC)

Please elaborate on that. Why should the adjective for Flora be derived from Florius? Which Cassell dictionary? — My dictionary (Chambers-Murray) says the adjective for the goddess Flōra is Flōrālis. —Tamfang (talk) 06:41, 21 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Proportion of Flora family

[edit]

The (Nesvorny 2002) reference claims that Flora constitutes about 85% of the mass of the family. However, using the IRAS diameters (which are just about the only relevant data), and assuming a constant density across the family, I get only 81%. If you further estimate the diameters of non-IRAS bodies by assuming the same albedo as Flora (0.243), Flora is about 77% of the mass. Since this is pretty rough anyhow, i've made it 80% in the article Deuar 14:30, 16 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

what's with the schwa?

[edit]

Why /ˈflɔərə/ rather than /ˈflɔrə/? The first schwa doesn't belong in any dialect with which I'm familiar. Tamfang (talk) 00:28, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
