Failed verification tags

Cerebral726, while some verification issues were warranted (I think the user who first used "Australian Grand Prix 2026 – F1 Race" as ref thought that as one just had to click on each session, there was no need to put each ref every time, or maybe they thought that by clicking on the various session, it would not result in another URL), I guess you will have to put a "Failed verification tag" in many, many other pages, as for the table we simply report the source for the overall classification.

Do we really need a ref for every DNF? Ideally yes, but I thought that as long as it is sourced in the body, it was fine to have just the classification source; it would be good to have source including the classification with the specified DNFs like at 1950 British Grand Prix, but I would not consider it a "failed" as long as it is sourced in the body. It would also be helpful if you could actually find the source in support rather than just add the tag, as I do not know where to find a source including why one DNF like for the 1950 British Grand Prix. Perhaps the Formula 1 website will update it? Either way, you do not seem to have issue that the lead is not cited (in line with MOS:LEAD). So what's the matter? If it is fine for the lead to have no refs as long as everything is cited in the body, it should be fine too for the table as long as it is cited in the "Race report" section? I always thought it was this way.

These tables are very vulnerable to people putting in loose speculation or incorrect assumptions for Retirement reasons. They need a direct and WP:Verifiable source if a reason is going to be given. Cerebral726 (talk) 16:22, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
