@Zzz plant You've added a copyedit tag to this page but there are no specific concerns listed, ie 'the page "may" need editing' is vague. Do you want to indicate what particular issues you think need attention so that people can know when the template can be removed? Thanks. MmeMaigret (talk) 12:52, 15 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi, to single out a few notes at random:
  • starting sentence with contractions (i.e. And..., But..." should be avoided
  • "A bevy of new laws between 1958-1960 resulted in a new department of labour and new labour laws, the abolition of the company vote, and the extension of the right to vote to all men over 21 as opposed to only men who owned, or leased high valued, property. " - repetitive phrasing and a bit of a run-on. The article overall reads quite repetitively.
  • "Negotiations stalled over one point." - this is unclear. If you mean one point was the key issue, I recommend going straight into it. then that is followed by "The tour companies also started to raise issues that had been previously settled." which seems to contradict the previous statement.
As it is, the article is readable but I think it would benefit greatly from someone reviewing it with a metaphorical red pen, which is why I added the tag. Thanks, Zzz plant (talk) 13:15, 15 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Not starting sentences with conjuctions isn't modern advice. The fact that you understood the sentence belies the argument that it's unclear. And you've also admitted to drive-by tagging - you haven't even amended these sentences that you've randomly singled out. MmeMaigret (talk) 03:05, 16 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I came here from new page patrol- we're supposed to tag issues we find. That's not the same as drive-by tagging, and I provided a few specific examples because you asked for them. I've marked your article as reviewed because I think the topic is notable but I think the prose and grammar could be improved to make it more reader-friendly. There was no personal attack intended.
