The first aerial photograph

January 10 - Major Jimmie Erickson takes the first aerial photograph (over San Diego, California).

But in the Aerial photograph article you can find this:

Aerial photography was first practiced by the French photographer and balloonist Nadar in 1858 over Paris, France.

Frank De Vol

I reverted the entry for his death because it appeared to be a redlink, this was actually due to incorrect capitalisation. On looking at his article 5 foreign language articles would appear to indicate that he was internationally notable (as required for inclusion in a Year article). However, all the foreign language articles are small clones of the English one with no independent citations. ANd while his career is extensive it doesn appear to be particularly significant. 4 Academy Award nominations for scoring films, in and of itself, is far above the notability threshold.(He received a fifth nomination for best song for the title track to Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte, which is not listed in his bio.) Even without those five nominations, he meets the notability guidelines. (The relevant subsection of the notability guideline is WP:ANYBIO. I will be restoring him to the list shortly. Republic of China

Republic of China should be piped to Republic of China (1912–1949). It's currently a redirect to Taiwan. Kauffner (talk) 04:19, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Fixed Although the article is fully protected, this appears to be an uncontroversial change, especially since the October 10th entry was already pointing to the correct link (the only change I made was to the December 29th entry; I am assuming that is the entry to which you are referring). For future reference, use the {{edit protected}} tag for requesting uncontroversial edits to protected pages; that tag adds it to a queue for administrator attention. Otherwise, it will sit until an admin notices the request on the talk page, which could be quite some time for a lower-profile page. Horologium (talk) 13:33, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Almaty

Almaty is a new name. In 1911, it was called something else (I think Alma-Ata at that time). Shouldn't the then-current name rather than today's name be used?
