Commendable of you to make this disclosure/notice. Was someone from 18F or someone else in the Obama administration responsible for this euphenistic wording? No, that was me, and I don't find it a euphemism czar  14:03, 30 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Lede should give an introduction

[edit]

The lede is a place to give an overview of the topic of an article. For this reason, I removed the first sentence and the "Overview" heading, making the lede into what had been the overview. No information was lost, and useful information was moved above the TOC. This change was reverted.. I don't do editing wars. I came to this article because there wasn't enough information in the lede for me to understand what 18F was about. And there it was in an "Overview" section. I recommend the change I made. -- ke4roh (talk) 17:12, 18 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Questionable language in section 'Mass firings...'

[edit]

"At the end of January 2025, members of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) infiltrated the GSA, which manages federal real estate and technology." [emphasis added]

I think 'infiltrate' carries connotations that are not appropriate and (hopefully) not desired in this context. I am, however, unable to come up with a more appropriate word given the structure of the sentence ('joined', perhaps, but that would seem to gloss over the consternation/conflict that accompanied the event) and perhaps it would be better to simply rewrite/replace that portion? 189.197.18.77 (talk) 20:43, 20 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

I was about to leave a similar note about this passage.
My main issue with this is that "infiltrate" leaves me unclear as to what actually happened—did members of DOGE sneak into the offices at night while no one was there? Did they steal someone's computer credentials and start clandestinely looking at information they shouldn't have had access to? Were several of them installed at positions within F18, and begin working there?
I'm going to add a Vague tag and flag the section for tone; hopefully someone can find a term that's more informative than "infiltrate" is. At first glance, it seems that the rest of the statements in the section are fairly factual; hopefully finding a better word than "infiltrate" will address both the tone and the informativeness issues.

Adjusted this bit and added more context, including a "see also" link to US federal agencies targeted by DOGE#General Services Administration (GSA), which has a fuller telling of the DOGE story. Dreamyshade (talk) 08:39, 20 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also, if it matters for disclosure purposes: former 18F employee but left before that happened. Hi to any other former coworkers watching this page! 🦉 🦒 Dreamyshade (talk) 08:49, 20 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
