History
[edit]I'm not sure how relevant much of this section actually is, because it's describing 'ism' as a noun, rather than the suffix '-ism'. Given that this Wikipedia article is explicitly about the latter, and that they're also differentiated in dictionaries (e.g. the OED), it just seems very off topic and of dubious relevance. Grand Narrative/Eisenhower
[edit]Discussion on the following two lines

> Skeptics of any given -isms can quote the dictum attributed to Eisenhower: "All -isms are wasms".
I moved them from the introductory paragraph to the history already. However, they feel weirdly/poorly worded, or potentially irrelevant for a wikipedia article. LittleShostyBoy (talk) 04:35, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
