Tabish Ahmed Hashmi (Urdu: تابش احمد ہاشمی; born 11 June 1985) is a Pakistani stand-up comedian, television host and actor. He hosts the Geo TV comedy talk show Hasna Mana Hai and previously hosted the digital interview series To Be Honest for Nashpati Prime. In 2026 he joined the debut season of Pakistan's Got Talent as a judge and made his acting debut in the film Aag Lagay Basti Mein.
Early life and education
[edit]Hashmi was born in Karachi on 11 June 1985.[1] After graduating from Habib Public School, He studied engineering at the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology and later completed an MBA at the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.[1] He then worked in Canada in logistics and supply-chain management before returning to Pakistan to work in entertainment full-time.[2]
Career
[edit]Stand-up comedy and To Be Honest (2020–2022)
[edit]Before moving into television, Hashmi performed with the Karachi stand-up collective The Laughing Stock and built a following through self-produced comedy videos online.[1] Aurora, a Dawn Media Group publication, named him in a November 2020 feature on rising digital-media figures.[3] Nashpati Prime then cast him as host of To Be Honest, an unscripted interview series directed by Azfar Ali whose guests included Sanam Jung, Saboor Aly and Irfan Junejo across three seasons.[1] His social-media comedy brought him a nomination for Best Use of Humour in Social Media at the 2021 Pakistan International Screen Awards.[4] He left To Be Honest in January 2022 after signing with Geo Entertainment.[1]
Television (2022–present)
[edit]Hashmi began hosting Hasna Mana Hai on Geo TV in 2022, a weekend talk show built around celebrity interviews, audience segments and sketch comedy.[5] During the 2025 cricket season he co-hosted the sports-comedy programme Haarna Mana Hai with former cricketers Rashid Latif and Fawad Alam.[6] After a fire at Karachi's Gul Plaza market in January 2026, Hashmi used an appearance on Geo's current-affairs programme Report Card to criticise the city's civic administration, arguing residents could manage essential services better than the provincial government.[7]
In June 2026, producers Pixel Entertainment announced Hashmi as one of four judges — alongside Ali Zafar, Mehwish Hayat and Usman Bashir — for the debut season of Pakistan's Got Talent, the Pakistani edition of the Fremantle-owned international format.[8] First announced for 4 July, the series was rescheduled and premiered on Geo Entertainment on 18 July 2026.[9][10]
Film (2026)
[edit]Hashmi made his acting debut in Aag Lagay Basti Mein, a crime-comedy directed by Bilal Atif Khan and produced under Fahad Mustafa's Big Bang Entertainment banner.[11] Released for Eid ul-Fitr 2026 and starring Mustafa opposite Mahira Khan, the film cast Hashmi as Changaiz, alias "Chota Marble", the son of a local crime boss.[12] Reviewers singled out his performance: the Khaleej Times called his introduction one of the film's highlights, while Dawn Images wrote that he balanced a menacing persona with comic vulnerability.[13][14]
Personal life
[edit]Hashmi is married to Hira Khalid, whose family had been close to his for years before the couple's arranged marriage; they have two children.[15]
