Syncollin is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SYCNgene.[5] This protein is found in the acinar cells of the pancreas, and is involved their secretion of digestive enzymes (via exocytosis).[6] Inside of acinar cells, syncollin is found in the membranes of zymogen granules which contain active and inactive digestive enzymes.[6] It functions to regulate the merging of these granules, but does not appear to be strictly necessary for their formation.[7]
