Shaaticup (Bengali: শাটিকাপ) is a Bangladeshi crime drama streaming television series directed by Mohammad Touqir Islam.[6] The eight-episode series was released on 13 January 2022 on Chorki.[7][8]
Premise
[edit]Hannan and Joynal plan to invade drug lord Sohel's monopoly kingdom. Sohel assigns Uttam, the most influential Investigation Officer in the area, to capture Hannan and Joynal. Several complex moves come one after another in this SnakeLudo game. Who will win this game? Drug lord, new traders, cunning officer, or anyone beyond imagination?[9]

[edit]Principal photography has taken place in different locations of Rajshahi, Bangladesh from October 2020 to August 2021.[10]
Release
[edit]Shaaticup aired on Chorki on 13 January 2022.[11] A premiere screening was held in Rajshahi at District Council Auditorium on the same day.[12][13]

Reception
[edit]Shadique Mahbub Islam of The Financial Express praised the series, commenting, "The series has retained its local flavour in its dialogues and character development, so much so that it feels like an authentic visual experience of the city, the char, the Padma river".[15]
Writing for The Business Standard, Sayed Arafat Zubayer gave the Chorki web series Shaaticup a positive review, praising its realistic portrayal of Rajshahi's local drug-trafficking underbelly. Zubayer commended director Mohammad Touqir Islam for his unorthodox filming style and effective screenplay, highlighting the decision to shoot entirely in Rajshahi with a local cast of 137 actors using the regional dialect, which lent authentic local flavor to the narrative. He also noted that the cinematography transformed the city and its surrounding areas into active elements of the story, supported by a fitting background score and music. While pointing out minor limitations, such as a lack of subplots and underdeveloped dark characters, Zubayer concluded that the series offers a unique and fresh viewing experience for regional content.[16]
