Sandro Kopp (born 1978) is a German–New Zealand visual artist based in Scotland.[1] His work explores the intersection of classical painting and digital technology.
Biography
[edit]Kopp grew up in Germany and obtained his Abitur with main subjects in fine art (researching and painting facial features) and English in 1998.[2] In 2000, he immigrated to New Zealand, his mother's home country,[2] where he lived and studied in Wellington.[1]
Since 2006, Kopp has been based in Nairn in the Highland region of Scotland. He primarily works on oil portraits of family and friends painted from Skype conversations.[1]
Personal life
[edit]Kopp has been in a relationship with actress Tilda Swinton since 2004.[3][4]
