Ryan Metu (born 28 August 2008) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a winger for Eredivisie club FC Groningen.
Youth career
[edit]Metu developed his early football career in the youth ranks of amateur clubs HS '88, GVAV-Rapiditas, and GRC Groningen, before entering the youth academy of FC Groningen in 2020.
Club career
[edit]On 8 February 2026, Metu made his professional debut for FC Groningen in an Eredivisie fixture against PSV Eindhoven, coming on as a late substitute for David van der Werff in a 1–2 defeat.[1] Following five impressive senior appearances as a substitute, he signed his first professional contract extension with the club on 1 May 2026, keeping him at Groningen until mid-2029.[2] His role as a dynamic attacking option on the flanks was highly praised during his initial breakthrough into the first team.[3]
In September 2026, FC Groningen further extended Metu's contract until June 2030 following his integration into the permanent first-team roster for the 2026–27 season.[4]
