Overview
[edit]Moston ward was created in 1919,[1] from a portion of the former Blackley and Moston ward to the east of Boggart Hole Brook. In 1950,[2] the southern portion of the ward was transferred to the new Lightbowne ward. Further revisions in 1971,[3] transferred that part of the ward to the west of Moston Lane to the new Charlestown ward. In 1982,[4] the westernmost portion of the ward was transferred to the Lightbowne ward. Following another revision in 2004,[5] the eastern portion of the former Lightbowne ward was transferred to the ward and that part of the ward to the west of the Caldervale Line was transferred to the Charlestown ward. At the latest revision in 2018[6], the ward's western boundary was extended to Ashley Lane.
From its creation until 2010, the ward formed part of the Manchester Blackley Parliamentary constituency.[7] From 2010 until 2024, it was part of the Manchester Central Parliamentary constituency. Since 2024, it has formed part of the Blackley and Middleton South Parliamentary constituency.
