Love One. (stylized as LOVE One.) is the debut studio album by Japanese singer and songwriter, Kana Nishino. It was released on June 24, 2009, by SME Records. It peaked at number 4 on the Oricon albums chart, selling 146,206 copies.[1]

Overview

[edit]

Making her major label debut with the single, "I" on February 20, 2008, it was released for Digital Download in Japan and the United States.[2][3] After a string of unsuccessful singles, she was selected to perform the second ending theme for the anime series, Soul Eater, with "Style" being released as the third single from the album. It became her best selling single at the time due to the popularity of the series,[4] peaking at 57 on the Oricon charts.[5]

Critical reception

[edit]

Johnny Loftus from AllMusic gave the album a mixed review, with criticism towards Nishino's vocals and overreliance on production, stating "the voice is thin, whispering to a fault. The songs get dominated by production as a result, with Nishino just hanging on to the focus by a thread more often than not."[6]
