Jacopo Lazzarini (born 22 August 1994), known professionally as Lazza, is an Italian rapper and record producer.

Biography

Lazzarini was born in Milan, more precisely in the Calvairate district which is in zone 4 of Milan. From a young age, he cultivated a passion for music, which led him to study piano at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan.[1]

On 5 November 2012, he released his first mixtape Destiny Mixtape, later followed by the second mixtape K1 Mixtape, produced by DJ Telaviv of Blocco Recordz, released on 29 December 2014.[2] In the same year, Lazza collaborated with Italian rapper Emis Killa on the singles "Bestie" and "Bella idea", contained in the latter's album Keta Music Vol. 2.[3]

On 14 April 2017, he released his first studio album Zzala which, compared to the previous mixtapes, is characterised by a cross between trap sounds and the use of the classically inspired piano.[4][5] From the album were extracted the singles "MOB", in collaboration with rappers Nitro and Salmo, and "Lario", both being certified platinum.[6] The album was promoted through a tour divided into two seasonal legs, the Zzala Tour.[7] In the following months, he devoted himself to the production of songs by various Italian artists including Ernia ("Disgusting"), Nitro ("Passepartout"), and Salmo ("Lunedì").

Preceded by the singles "Porto Cervo", "Gucci Ski Mask" and "Netflix", with the former track being certified gold, Lazza released his second studio album Re Mida which constitutes a further evolution of the artist's musical style, which almost totally embraces trap musicality.[8][9] The album reached the top of Classifica FIMI Artisti and currently is certified 5 times platinum.[10] On 3 October 2019, two re-releases of the album were released: Re Mida (Aurum) and Re Mida (Piano Solo): the former contains some previously unreleased tracks and new collaborations, while the latter contains several tracks rearranged for solo piano tracks, being reinterpreted by the rapper.[11]

On 17 July 2020, he released the third mixtape J, composed of ten tracks featuring the collaboration of various Italian rappers Capo Plaza, Tha Supreme, Guè Pequeno, Shiva, Rondodasosa, Dark Polo Gang and Gemitaiz.[12]

On 8 April 2022, he released the third studio album Sirio, The album debuts at the top of the Classifica FIMI Artisti and, after a double platinum certification, is recognised as the longest-running album to top the FIMI Albums Chart in the last ten years (14 weeks), beating the previous record held by The Kolors' album Out. As of 2024, Sirio had reached the diamond classification and had the most listened to album of Italian rap.[13] On 4 December 2022, it was officially announced Lazza participation in the Sanremo Music Festival 2023.[14] "Cenere" was later announced as his entry for the Sanremo Music Festival 2023, finishing in second place.[15]

On 19 September 2024, Lazza released his fourth studio album Locura. The album features 18 tracks with various collaborations.[16] These collaborations include Laura Pausini, Ghali, Lil Baby, Marra, among others. The album is described as representing an important chapter of Lazza's discography and life; the album contains Lazza's anger, based on an interview with the rapper. In the same interview, Lazza implicitly referred to the album as authentic, stating he refuses to "keep anything inside anymore."[17] A tour was announced for the album in 2025: the "LOCURA TOUR 2025."[18] On 6 June 2025, Lazza expanded this album by releasing modified versions of the album, titled LOCURA JAM and LOCURA OPERA respectively. These versions of the album feature real instruments playing the tracks, combined with interplay between musicians, and live energy. The album was recorded in Milan.[19] This modified album "combines two distinct yet complementary souls: on one hand, the instinctive power of the music he plays, with songs that explode like a jam session; on the other, the orchestral reinterpretation of ten tracks entrusted to the Milan Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Enzo Campagnoli. The album has introspective lyrics and a production designed specifically for live stage performance.[20]
