Jeff Geerling is an American author, open-source software developer, and hardware reviewer best known for his YouTube channel.
Career
[edit]Geerling has worked as a web developer,[1] beginning his career building a website that displayed song titles and artists for radio station KYKY for his father.[2][3] He is also an author of books on Ansible and Kubernetes.[4][5][6]

[edit]Geerling became a full-time content creator in 2021 for his self titled Jeff Geerling YouTube channel, focusing on single-board computers, software programming,[7] and home servers[8] and supported by sponsorships and Patreon members.[9] In particular, he has become recognized for his various projects using Raspberry Pi computers[2] with very large storage arrays,[10] high-performance compute,[11] clusters,[12][13][14] and external GPUs.[15][16]
Geerling later started a second YouTube channel Geerling Engineering to discuss radio engineering[3][17] with his father, who is a radio engineer.[18]
In 2024, Geerling received attention after noticing his voice was cloned without consent by the electronics manufacturer Elecrow,[7][19][20] and the company subsequently apologized and removed the offending content.[21] Geerling's experience was cited as a case meant to be addressed by YouTube's likeness-detection technology when it was released in 2025.[22][23]
Personal life
[edit]Geerling intended to become a priest,[24] attending at St. Louis University and Kenrick–Glennon Seminary,[25] before leaving the seminary to get married.[24] As of 2024, he is married and has children.[7]
Geerling was diagnosed with Crohn's disease[26] and had ileostomy surgery in 2018 to treat it.[27] He subsequently wrote a book about life with the disease.[28]
