Jangipur College is a government-aided college located in Jangipur, Murshidabad district, West Bengal, India. Established in August 1950, the college offers undergraduate courses in the humanities, sciences and commerce. It is affiliated with the University of Kalyani.[1]
History
[edit]Jangipur College was established in August 1950 with intermediate-level classes. Undergraduate teaching began during the 1956–57 academic session. The college became affiliated with the University of Kalyani in 1999 following a decision of the Government of West Bengal.[1]
The institution occupies a 5.05-acre (2.04 ha) semi-urban campus. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission under sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act.[1]
Beginning with the 2016–17 academic session, the college also became a study centre for distance-mode postgraduate courses in Bengali, English, History and Education offered by the University of Kalyani.[1]

[edit]According to data submitted by the college for the 2025 National Institutional Ranking Framework exercise, it had 4,102 undergraduate students during the 2023–24 academic year. Of these, 1,647 were male and 2,455 were female.[6]
