Jaglal Chaudhary College is a degree college in Chhapra, Bihar, India.[1] It is a constituent unit of Jai Prakash University.[2] The college offers intermediate and three years degree course (TDC) in arts and science.[3]
History
[edit]The college was established in 1970 as Bihar Teachers Training College, Chapra (BTTC). It was founded by Tapeshwar Singh, a science teacher at Rajput High School in Chhapra, who was the first secretary of the college. The college received an affiliation from Bihar University for Bachelor of Arts courses in 1972. It also had a Bachelor of Education program, which was discontinued in 1974. The institution became a constituent college in 1980 and was subsequently renamed "Jaglal Choudhary College" in honor of freedom fighter Jaglal Choudhary. According to the college, Singh, as founding secretary, transferred the institution's records to the government when it became a constituent college.
Singh later established another intermediate college in Chhapra in 1982. Professors associated with Jaglal Choudhary College and other local educators proposed that the new institution be named Tapeshwar Singh College in his honor, and an application for affiliation was submitted under that name.[4][5]
