House and site history [ edit ]
The house was originally constructed in the 17th century. Although not recorded in the official listing, a relatively large single-height service wing was added to the west elevation in the mid-19th century, evidenced by comparing the Stanwick tithe map, dateable to 1821–41,[ 10] and the first Ordnance Survey map of the area.[ 11]
The tithe map also depicts a block of buildings extending northwards from close to the north face of the east cross wing, which had disappeared before the publication of the first OS map.
