Hostaway is a Finnish (software-as-a-service) company that develops property management and channel management software for short-term rental operators.[1] The company is registered in Helsinki and operates as a remote organization. In October 2025, Hostaway reached unicorn status.[2]

History

[edit]

Hostaway was founded in 2015[3] in Helsinki by Marcus Räder, Saber Kordestanchi and Mikko Nurminen. [3][4][2][5] Räder, a Finnish-Swede, serves as chief executive officer.[1]

In February 2018, the company raised €700,000, bringing total capital raised to €1.16 million.[6] By the end of 2022, annual revenue had reached €7 million,  and the company employed around 100 people, with five based in Finland.

In May 2023, Hostaway raised $175 million in funding, led by PSG Equity.[3] In December 2024, the company raised a further $365 million[7][2] led by General Atlantic, with continued participation from PSG Equity, at a valuation of $925 million.[1][8][3][4] The Finnish public broadcaster Yle described the round as the third-largest funding round in Finnish history for a growth-stage company. The company's 2024 revenue was €40.3 million, more than double the previous year.

In October 2025, Hostaway reached a $1 billion valuation, making it the first short-term rental property management software company to reach unicorn status.[2][5]

Operations and products

[edit]

Hostaway's software is used by professional short-term rental operators to distribute property listings across major online booking sites and manage day-to-day rental operations. Customers access third-party tools through a partner marketplace.[3][4]

The company operates without physical offices. As of 2024, it employed roughly 240 people across 40 countries.[1] [3] By late 2025, it served customers in more than 90 countries.
